Bittersweet Samba (Herb Alpert) drum cover by Jonathan Finch
This one is "Bittersweet Samba" by Herb Alpert (the "A" in A & M Records - the other guy is Moss). Like my other clips, this is a loose cover, not intended to be a duplication of the original drum track. I can clone when necessary, but when I'm alone, I like doing my gut feel on how a tune moves for me. I used to be on the road non-stop, no day job. But that was over 18 years ago. When I got off the road I stopped playing entirely and only recently got my drums from storage and set them up (couple or 3 years ago). Right now I play maybe once every few weeks or so. I'd like to start playing a little every day again. Actually I've been kicking around the idea of getting in some local band to play weekends. There's NOTHING like playing drums on stage, surrounded and inundated by sound pressure, a big audience getting off on it. I do miss that feeling quite a bit. Anyway, I've seen how brutal some of these drummers are when commenting on other players on YouTube. Go easy on me fellas, haha, I've been out of the business for almost 2 decades. Hope you like it. I enjoyed doing it. I always love it when I play. And I really should have my butt kicked for not playing more.
