Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring Fight Sample - Playstation
Original Air Date: May 16th, 2009 Ehrgeiz certainly is an ambitious game... literally. The literal meaning and translation of Ehrgeiz from German to English is ambition. I used to play this game religiously before the turn of the millenium and still think it's a cool game, but it is not without its skeptics, who have their valid reasons. Adapted from the original Arcade game, the Playstation game is an excellent conversion with plenty of extra goods and fan-based (Squaresoft) additions. Being the product of Squaresoft, Dream Factory, and Namco's work, the game is part Tekken, part original entity, and part of an expansion of Dream Factory's prior series, Tobal, to good (but not great) results. It boasts excellent audio/visuals and many hours of gameplay by being part fighter and part RPG. Characters can chain together combos under different stances, use special powers such as projectiles or weapons, grab weapons and counter throws, push obstacles, interrupt melee attacks, and use "Just Frame" attacks which first originated in Tobal 2, and this makes up the bulk of the main fighting. Unlike Tekken or past Dream Factory fighters, Ehrgeiz has a greater emphasis on freedom of movement and varied arenas that take advantage of your ability to run in circles or climb up structures.
